Premier Composite Technologies, Dubai Based Advanced Composites Manufacturer – Key Partner In The Manufacturing Of The New Robotic Manufacturing System Xmini.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Feb 22nd February – The XMini is a robotic, next-generation, intelligent, portable machine system that uses Parallel Kinematics Machining (PKM) to support industrial automated manufacturing capabilities. It was unveiled by EXECHON at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX), in Abu Dhabi, UAE on Tuesday 21 February.
The Exechon XMini is the first Machine Tool Robot in the world, fabricated out of carbon fibre, with the unique capability of performing high speed machining as well as machining with high torque at low rpm. It is also the first modular machine ever built. The device which is made of carbon fibre, can be taken apart and reassembled inside spaces traditionally inaccessible to machines or people, such as an aircraft wing box. Built in 4 modules, each part is manageable by one or two persons. The XMIni can be used as a standalone tool or part of an existing production system. The machine merges the flexibility and high dynamics of the articulated-arm robot with the stiffness and accuracy of the rigid machine tool.
In an effort to achieve the desired flexibility, mobility and dynamics, Excehon has along with applying the latest technology for systems, also replaced all structural steel parts with the latest technology in carbon fibre. Premier Composite Technologies (PCT) Worked closely with Exechon to develop, design and manufacture all structural carbon fibre components of the Xmini, to very stringent tolerances and timelines, delivering all components, within a 20 week period.
The XMini is the first product developed by Exechon, LLC. The company is a joint-venture (JV) comprising of Injaz National, U.S. global security and aerospace company Lockheed Martin and Tecgrant AB. The device was commissioned by Lockheed Martin under their offset obligations, with Airbus and Boeing as primary customers. Premier Composite Technologies, was one of the key partners in the manufacturing of the XMini, producing all the composite components with functional interface and carbon stands.
Future plans include PCT collaborating with Exechon to create various enhancements which will lend themselves to other applications and industries. “The exacting demands of creating the machine fell in-line with PCT’s existing capabilities in aerospace and automotive.
